Gaye Nichols – Oil Painter.

Gaye was born and educated in Hobart, Tasmania. She is a self taught contemporary artist who began her painting career in 1994.
Gaye has had several successful solo exhibitions and has won many prestigious art awards.
Having lived on the waterfront in Hobart opposite beautiful sand dunes and was mesmerised by the sea with all it’s moods and colours. She loved to paint in the early morning with the sun glistening on the waves and the light at its best.
Evenings when stormy, also a favourite, the sea is so green, to match the sky. She always has music playing whilst painting, forgetting time, oblivious to all around her. She feels so fortunate to have the opportunity to do something she loves. Gaye has now settled in Cairns to be near her daughter and loves the new landscape with its tropical colours, a very exciting, new phase in her life.
